LittleBigPlanet 2 collector’s edition gets netuered for Europe

July this year was when we first heard about the LittleBigPlanet 2 collector’s edition and its wealth of goodies. Back then, the game was still on course for a November release and word on pricing for Europe was sketchy. Since then, the $79.99 box set including a number of free DLC, book/game ends and a Sackboy plushie, was pushed back until next year and if that’s not bad enough, it won’t even be coming to Europe. We’ll still be getting the DLC but the cuddly toy and book ends is to be replaced with a ‘steel’ case. Wow… Odd that one of the champions of British game development isn’t to have such a luxuries SKU but sales of the first game were significantly better in Europe after its 2008 release so maybe Sony feel that America need the most persuading to part with their cash.

LittleBigPlanet 2 release date confirmed…for US

Media Molecule has announced (via PS Blog) that LittleBigPlanet 2 has just passed its Alpha stage and is well on the way to hitting the Winter 2010 release date – which turns out will be November 16th in the US. No details on a UK date but some retailers are being optimistic in guessing a release two weeks beforehand for European territories. It could happen, maybe. Certain US retailers have been given pre-order goodies to bundle with their sales but the newly announced collector’s edition features all of them and more anyway. It’ll cost $79.99 (again no UK details are available) featuring a multitude of costumes such as Gonzo from The Muppets, Ratchet, Clank, a Sackboy plushie and oddly enough, bookends to keep your PS3 games tidy. A bizarre edition but adorable nonetheless. The full contents can be seen after the break and further news to the whereabouts of a European release date will be posted as soon as I find out!
