Create with EA

Vodpod videos no longer available.

No doubt inspired by the work done by Media Molecule, EA are attempting to bring their very own create-em-up to Wii owners this November, aptly named Create. Whereas LittleBigPlanet allows players to make whatever they please, be it a platformer, shooter or just tinker about with object and physics, Create has the specific goal of solving puzzles by any means possible. It may sound like a cliche but we’re told that the only limitations will be our imagination and that there isn’t a wrong solution, only one unique to the user. Create is really quite interesting and doesn’t look like it’s trying to mimic LittleBigPlanet but share some of its ideas. I’m keen to see how the Wii remote handles level creation and if this will appeal to the main demographic of Wii owners which, right now, all they want to do is just dance. My eyebrows are raised in curiosity over this one.

Professor Layton and the Unwound Future coming this September

Good old Professor Layton. He just can’t help himself from tackling a puzzle or two and that makes for some seriously fun gaming. The next installment of the franchise, Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, will feaure over 165 new puzzles plus the weekly bonuses available via download. The story goes that Layton’s little helper Luke receives a letter sent ten years in the future. He and Layton then bump into Luke’s older self and travel to future London where the mind-bending begins – if the meeting of your future self wasn’t confusing enough!

Professor Layton and the Unwound Future has a release date of September 20th which seems a little odd as it’s a Monday and doesn’t fit with either the US or UK’s regular release days of a Tuesday or Friday. Nevertheless it’s been confirmed and is little over three months until we get our hands on it. Joy!

Opening Pandora’s box

Friend of the site Tiamatini has recently written a review for Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box – or Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box as she calls it since she’s over in the US. Personally I think this was a ploy to tease considering I haven’t got my hands on it yet and am so eager to do so! Joking aside, the review states how addictive the game is, taking only a few evenings to complete. This could be viewed as a negative but the reason why it was over so quick was more to do with how Tia just couldn’t put it down rather than the game being short. Puzzles range from being “insanely simple” to those that needed considerably more time to crack. Sounds good to me! For all the details, check out Tiamatini.com.

Scribblenauts uber fight trailer

What happens if you get a criminal, cop, zombie, god, satan, vampire, necronomicon, necromancer, super hero, cyborg, ninja, plutonium and an atomic bomb together? One incredibly sweet battle royale! Scribblenauts for the DS is a puzzle based side scrolling adventure coming to Europe September 25th. Bizarrely Warner Bros are pitting this against Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box which is also out September 25th. They may be very different with their puzzles but I would have expected some breathing space between the two. No matter, it just means I have yet more games to play – yay!
