Don’t cross the streams

Atari and the chaps behind such games as Assault Heroes, Wanako, recently announced a new top-down twin stick shooter for PC, PSN and XBLA based off the Ghostbusters franchise. Known as Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, the game follows the ideas of 2009’s awkward third-person shooter where the original cast hire a rookie (played by you) but since non of the voice talents of those hallowed 80s movies will be appearing, G:SoS‘s four-player mode will probably feature a quadruplet of rookies.

When I heard ‘twin-stick shooter’ I was first sceptical of what to expect since those kinds of games are a dime a dozen (or whatever the UK version of that saying is) but the new trailer is looking pretty cool. Stinking great bosses to battle and a roof-top trip on the infamous ex-ambulance sounds like a winner to me. Don’t expect a the game to be close to the lore of Ghostbusters though as I didn’t see any traps being used and on several occasions the rookies crossed their streams. I know, I’m as shocked as you are…
