ZX Spectrum emulator released for iPhones

Vodpod videos no longer available.

If like me, you’re old enough to just about remember the 80’s and its early gaming technology then you’ll be happy to hear that Elite Studios have made it easier to relive those magical days. Thanks to a bit of emulation, the developers have released ZX Spectrum: Elite Collection (Vol. 1) for iDevices. Only 59p ($0.99) gets you get six classic Spectrum games with six more coming in the free Vol. 2 update and an in-game shop with Vol. 3. The initial titles are: Turbo Esprit, Saboteur, Chuckie Egg, Harrier Attack, Frank Bruno’s Boxing and Buggy Boy, all of which can be played in either a landscape or portrait mode with their own unique controls. Musically, all the bleeps and screeches that made the Spectrum so memorable are intact but thankfully, you won’t have to load the tapes numerous times in order to play. Elite Studios reminded gamers that the collection is still a work in progress so still could contain a few hiccups now and again but have claimed that anything untoward will be eliminated in the coming updates. And for only 59p, it’s got to be worth a try right?
