At the start of the summer, developers Just Add Water announced they had begun a blossoming relationship with Oddworld Inhabitants to make “multiple projects across multiple platforms” based within the Oddworld universe. The first game JAW are tackling is an updated version of critical darling Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath featuring 720p HD graphics with extra ugly (or beautiful) characters and a remastered dialogue with even more bonuses to be revealed at a later date. PlayStation Move support will also be packed in.
So far, Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath has only been announced for the PS3 (hence Move support) though Xbox 360 gamers do have the option to buy the 2005 original which may not look as good but it’s better than going without eh? Managing director Stewart Gilray commented about how excited he was to be working on the port: “Having a chance to update the great title and release it on PS3 is just a brilliant opportunity, not least for us, but for the fans too.” Stranger’s Wrath is a Western-themed FPS that used murderous furryballs instead of the standard weaponry of the wild west. It came late in last generation’s life cycle, missing a lot of people who were ready to upgrade their consoles. Coming Easter 2011, a new Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath is in the right place at the right time for this generation.
