It took almost four years but Sony have proudly announced that the PS3 is finally making them a profit. Like most new systems, every PS3 sold from release until now made a loss for Sony though it’s not exactly raking in the cash now “We aren’t making huge money from hardware, but we aren’t bleeding like we used to,” said President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida to IGN. Bleeding is quite a strong word to use and even more so when you think that the PS3 was around £500 at launch. Clearly cheaper components and price cuts have done wonders but don’t expect another cut anytime soon as Yoshida wants to concentrate on catching up their production. Hopefully some of this new extra cash will go towards securing more exclusives too.
