Kinect. The peripheral previosuly known as Project Natal

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Project Natal is no more. Last night, Microsoft revealed that its motion-sensing peripheral has been renamed as Kinect, a ‘hip’ way of spelling connect. Gnarly. Pronounced the same, Kinect’s purple logotype looks quite uncomfortable next to the apple-green of Xbox but I’m guessing the branding won’t be as slapdash. A few titles were announced alongside the renaming with a fully-gestured Star Wars game from LucasArts being the most exciting. As expected, clones of Wii Sports and Just Dance are coming but the dashboard navigation is a gimmick that could be brilliant. We all remember the menus in Minority Report, hoping Kinect would deliver a similar experience and from the footage at the end of this video, it’s looking promising. But really, Kinect? What were they thinking?
