EA have eyes for Bungie too

The news of Bungie signing a ten-year deal with Activision is one of the top stories this year but if EA talked a better talk, they could have been in charge of publishing Bungie’s new IP. That ship has sailed although it is one of many. Bungie are large enough to have multiple projects on at once and nothing’s stopping them from signing deal with EA for another new IP – That’s what EA Partners head David DeMartini hopes (via CVG) “Bungie’s a fantastic studio. If you look at Bungie and the profile of the other studios who are part of the EA Partners programme, it would seem that they would have been a great fit into that programme. But at the same time, we have a very specific set of criteria we have in regards to our deals. It’s not good to enter into a partnership that doesn’t make financial sense for both sides.”

“I don’t want to see them fail – I want them to be successful. And when they start up a second team, we’ll have other discussions with them about that game as well – because they’re a great studio. There are probably only 20 studios in the world that are that highest level – and they’re certainly one of them.”

DeMartini may come off a tad desperate with those quotes but it would make perfect sense for Bungie to partner themselves with not one but two of the biggest publishers in the industry. It’s an exciting time to be a Bungie employee, I wonder if they have any openings?…
