I was so very looking forward to Mirror’s Edge on the iPhone. After developing a soft spot for its 2008 console brethren, the idea of a pocket version inspired by top side-scroller Canabalt was indeed a joyous one. Now I’m not so sure after reading Pocketgamer‘s story of how Mirror’s Edge has been upgraded to an iPad launch title costing $14.99 (£9.99 when the iPad eventually comes to the UK)! It becomes one of the most expensive games on the App Store – the second being another EA title, Command & Conquer: Red Alert. That kind of pricing may still be cheap considering console games cost anywhere between £20-60 but it’s still a big leap for an Apple handheld. At the moment it appears that Mirror’s Edge is iPad only leaving us pondering if it’ll still be heading to the iPhone or not. My guess is that EA will hold off any details until Saturday’s US iPad launch is all over, hoping to bag as many early adopters as they can with their prestigious pricing. Curses.
