Depending on how you felt when Sony allegedly announced LittleBigPlanet 2 would effect your reaction to their latest comment. A rep for SCEE spoke with Connected Consoles to clarify that the whole thing was one big misunderstanding: “As demonstrated recently at GDC, LittleBigPlanet has been shown as an example of how an existing game could benefit from PlayStation Move Motion Controller support. This is not a confirmation of LittleBigPlanet 2, and we do not have any announcements to make about the LittleBigPlanet franchise.”
Back when PlayStation Move was still awaiting a name, LittleBigPlanet was mentioned as a possible benefiter from motion controls with Sony even giving specific details as to the implementation. One idea was to allow a second player to manipulate objects within the world making it easier for player one to collect all those glowing orbs.
So no LBP2 after all. Media Molecule have always been against the idea of producing a new version of a game which, in theory, can have all improvements delivered via DLC rather than another disc so it doesn’t come as much surprise.
