Halo: Reach, Batman 2, Star Wars second unleashing and Medal of Honor trailers

This year’s Spike VGAs had some fairly big reveals equal to those you’d expect at an E3 of yesteryear. The most exciting for me was seeing some actual footage of Bungie’s next Spartan outing, Halo: Reach. Yes I do love me some Halo gaming and after my continuing defense of Halo 3: ODST, I feel quite spoilt (as I’d expect any Bungie fan does), that we’ll be playing another game next year. In the debut trailer, a group of Spartans seem to be planning an attack and one comments how it’s not a ‘lone wolf’ operation, suggesting some kind of squad based combat. I can’t imagine Bungie would veer too far from their classic FPS formula but enough to please the masses.

A surprise announcement was Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 which was teased at the awards. Not because I didn’t expect another game – far from it – but I didn’t expect to see or hear anything so soon after the first game’s release. The teaser (after the break) didn’t show a great deal but we did see an older, more weathered Joker grinning menacingly.

Another shock was Star War: The Force Unleashed II. Starkiller looks to once again battle foes much bigger than normally possible in the Star Wars universe which is a particularly impressive achievement considering he was meant to have died in the first game!

The boys at EA are trying their damnedest to reclaim the FPS crown taking some pointers from Modern Warfare 2. Medal of Honor is incredibly reminiscent of Activision’s latest bloodshed but could be equally if not more entertaining. I have nothing to base that on other than hope mind you…

All titles other than Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 are scheduled for a 2010 release.

Read on to see all the trailers and teasers mentioned above!
